  • Maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It encompasses the health care dimensions of family planning, preconception, prenatal, and postnatal care in order to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience in most cases and reduce maternal morbidity and mortality in other cases.

     

  • The Department of Public Health Policy and Management offers two concentrations: (1) Public Health Policy and (2) Public Health Management

  • Primary Health Care, or PHC, refers to "essential health care" that is based on "scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology, which make universal health care accessible to all individuals and families in a community

     

  • Population dynamics is the branch of life sciences that studies the size and age composition of populations as dynamical systems, and the biological and environmental processes driving them

     

  • Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, those being unicellular, multicellular, or a cellular. Microbiology encompasses numerous sub-disciplines including virology, parasitology, mycology and bacteriology
